Someone to Watch Over Annie, January 6, 1998

By Shirley

DJE can sing and play the guitar! Not just can, he sings and plays beautifully. Nature can be so generous! How can one guy be so gorgeous, be such a talented actor, and musical as well! Anyway, 'nuff said. No, not enough, I'm not done yet. We also got to see him shirtless! This must be the shirtless episode for this season. It is my belief that TPTB only allow one shirtless episode per season. This is for the mental and physical well-being of the rather easily excited female fans. (Calm down Shirley, don't get too excited, you're here to do a review, remember?)

Uh, yeah, right. Okay, Annie and Josh are back. Josh witnessed what turned out to be a murder, and Annie naturally turned to Harm for help. One thing led to another, and before we know it, everyone at JAG is involved in helping the Pendrys. This included the reluctant participation of our favourite Special Assistant, Clayton Webb.

The main story of course, is that of Harm and Annie. Harm finally gets the girl. The process is both tender and poignant. Will it last? Can it last? We have to remember that this is series television, and it works better if the leading man is not tied down. I still don't like the idea of Harm having a long-lasting relationship with a single Mom. This is not to disparage single Moms. I just want it to be someone with less emotional baggage than Annie. Anyway, Harm seemed to have won Josh over as well, so we'll just have to wait and see. I must admit this, that last scene, with the three of them all hugging each other was very moving.

It was nice to see the JAG crew relaxing and enjoying the dinner preparations at Harm's apartment. If Mac is jealous of Annie, she is handling it very well. Aside from that initial awkward bit when Annie showed up at JAG HQ, Mac was the epitome of the helpful friend. And it was nice of TPTB to allow the Admiral the opportunity to play with young Josh. I find Annie's quite vehement objection to Josh's plan to attend Annapolis interesting. Could this be the cause of a possible breakdown in the future in her relationship with Harm?

Of course we all know that when the chips are down, when our backs are against the wall, we can count on Webb. And he came up trumps.

My husband and I had a little debate over whether Mac really said, "I hate it when people look at my boo_s." He heard "boobs"; I innocently thought she said "boots"! She WAS looking down at her boots!
