Pas De Deux, May 13, 2003

By Michele Blackburn

A last minute marriage and an undercover assignment make for this serious and often times hilarious episode of JAG titled Pas de Deux (dance for two).

Harm is still frantically searching for information on Mac and Webb. Since last week's call to Mrs. Webb didn't pan out he decides to go a little further and try Catherine Gale. Catherine Gale is a CIA attorney that was last seen in Need To Know.

Harm gets in touch with her office and finds out that she's having dinner at her favorite restaurant. He heads there and when he finds her he pretends that he just happened to be there. Catherine invites him to sit with her and after a while tells him she knows he didn't just off handedly walk in. Harm tells her what's going on, but Catherine can't help him.

Things go from bad to worse, when Catherine gets a call about her mother being hospitalized again. Because of how shaky she is, Harm offers to driver her (in her car) to the hospital.

K Callan (The Adventures of Superman) played Catherine's mother. In a funny twist of fate, her mother thought Harm was her fiancee. Harm played along, reluctantly, and then really started playing along later to get back at Catherine. They were really cute together and I liked him with Catherine's mother.

When she was sure that she was going to die, she asked Catherine and Harm the ultimate question. Would you get married here before I die? Harm looks like he's going to be sick. So does Catherine.

Harm finally can't take it anymore and breaks down to Catherine's brother that they're not really married. They really don't even know each other. He doesn't look shocked, but still agrees they need to put on a ceremony for their mother. Harm orders Bud to play the minister.

Now there was some question about Bud being an ordained minister. Bud is not an ordained minister. If you are a FRIENDS fan, then you might be thinking of Joey. Joey Tribbiani is an internet ordained minister and performed Chandler and Monica's wedding. Since Bud is not really a minister Harm and Catherine are not really married. Although, this could bring up some very funny moments in seasons to come.

Bud reads off the ceremony for a same sex couple and apologizes later. Who thought the kiss between Harm and Catherine wasn't a little too long? Even Bud's eyes got huge as the kiss seemed to grow longer.

In a turn of events, Catherine's mother gets better. Who says weddings aren't healing? Catherine tells Harm she'll talk to her mother later and tell her they broke up. When Catherine breaks down Harm consoles her and offers to buy her a cup of coffee as their honeymoon.

For Harm's help with her mother, Catherine puts him in touch with the Deputy Director of the CIA (Jameson Parker from Simon & Simon). Harm finds out that the DD knows about Mac's involvement with Webb. He also informs Harm that Webb is on his own in this case. Before Harm hangs up, the DD offers him a job if he ever decides to leave the Navy. Harm may need the job considering he quits next week.

Meanwhile, Webb and Mac are freed and allowed to go. Raul sends Gunny with the other men to pick up some drugs. I had to laugh when I noticed the house the Gunny ended up at was the same house that was used on a two-hour A-Team in '84 and then again in another show.

Webb kills their driver because he is the fink. He and Mac hitchhike back to town. Mac wants to leave, but she doesn't because of the Gunny being in the mix. Webb informs her that he approached Gunny about the job three months ago and ever since he's been linked with Raul.

Raul and his friends are taken out by missiles. They didn't even know what hit them. Afterwards, Mac and Webb go after Gunny who is seconds away from being tortured because of a conversation overheard by some of Raul's men to Mac and Webb.

The gunfire and grenade blasts give Gunny ample opportunity to get away. He and Webb lay down fire while Mac gets in the car. Mac screams at Gunny to get in the car, but he is shot before he can. However, his wound didn't look serious.

The show ends with a blast when a grenade blows up the car that Mac and Webb are in.
