In this episode, the Admiral is head of a promotion board so Mac will be the active JAG in his absence.  The SecNav has made it known that he wants his right hand man, Commander Lindsay to get the promotion.  Commander Lindsay in hopes that talking to people that he has made mad such as the Admiral and Mac that it will help his chances of getting his promotion.  It does not help and he doesn't even get on the short list of promotions.

When the Admiral makes Mac the Acting JAG in his absence, Harm wants to defend a man that is facing the three strikes law and he asks Mac if he can defend him.  Mac says yes but she wants to know why Harm is treating her nicely.  He says something like I am always nice to you.  They both come off looking confused.

Gunny is facing losing his license and his car because of unpaid parking tickets and Tiner who is in Pre-Law convinces the Gunny to let him defend him.  He and the Gunny go into court and he gets all the parking tickets dropped.  On their way out of Court, Tiner is so excited about doing so well but his happiness is short lived when he gets his own parking ticket in front of the Courthouse.  Harm is able to get the man off on the life in prison charge and will get him the help he needs with his anger.  At the end, we once again have a great singing scene with the Admiral, Mac, Harm, Bud and Harriet.

Had it not been for four scenes this show would have had my C rating, but it came through with those two scenes and therefore I have given it an A.

First, let's start off with the Gunny and Tiner. Everyone who watches the show knows that Tiner is in pre-law (look out Admiral). Anyway, Tiner represents Gunny in Municipal court against 7 violations. I've always been a Tiner fan and they've evolved his character since the second season. Tiner really showed us more of his wonderful acting when he represented and won the Gunny's case. The funny scene was when they exited the building with Gunny praising Tiner only to find a ticket on his car.

Second, there was Harm's case. He defended a man that was going for life in prison because of the three strikes law. Did anyone recognize the state's attorney? He played Lord Boller on The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. The second scene that caught my attention was between Mac and Harm. Mac told Harm to take the case. Harm agreed very nicely. Mac then starts in
"Why are you being nice to me?"
"I'm always nice to you." Mac walks away giving Harm a strange look and Harm returns the look.

Third, the entrance of Teddy Lindsay. Teddy first appeared in the first season and worked his way into the third. Personally, I don't like Teddy Lindsay. I never have. I think he's a very weak officer and I think that's what the Admiral saw as well. What made me dislike him even more was when he entered the Admiral's office and talked to Mac about getting Captain. He had no right to go to Mac. Not only because she was the defendant in the case he prosecuted and lost, but because ethically it wasn't right.

Fourth, the scene with Tiner, the Admiral, Mac and Harm. The third scene I liked was the elongated scene where Tiner got the Admiral a car and driver to go to the Pentagon for fear that he might be angry when he leaves. They all know the Admiral and the SecNav too well. In the same scene, The Admiral gave Mac his job for the week. He mentioned that the Commander liked the time he was made Superior officer for the week. In Mac's own words two years ago (Soul Searching) she said, "I think he looks taller."

And lastly, the scene between the Admiral, Mac, Harm, and the Roberts at McMurphys is my fourth. This scene was similar to the end sequence of CHAIN OF COMMAND. Mac, first, insulted the Admiral by telling him he looked terrible. (That was a good one Mac.) Then the Admiral talked about losing Dr. Walden. Harm enters and they talk. Harm mentions Dr. Walden and Mac gives him the evil eye. The Roberts then enter and Bud asks about Dr. Walden. Harm gives him the cut sign and Bud shuts up. The Admiral then starts in about his job. "Ya know, Bud, I like my job and I ---like my people." He starts in about how the world is cold outside. In the background, the song BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE is playing. Harm, just like in CHAIN OF COMMAND starts singing. The Admiral and Mac join in and soon all of them are singing. TPTB, thank you for another wonderful scene like that. Each of them have sung by themselves on the show, but when they get together and sing it's a real joy to see them. They're like a big family.
